Quattro Voce Strings

Quattro Voce (four voice) Strings is composed of passionate musicians with a variety of experience in performance. We serve the Greater Grand Rapids area, providing live chamber music performances for listeners of all ages.
What does “Chamber Music” mean?
As the name suggests, chamber music was originally used for performing in small spaces, like a large room, or “chamber”. This music comes from a time before TV and video games, when music making with friends was a popular pastime for unwinding at the end of a busy day.
While QVS is a professional ensemble (we formed out of necessity for a gig Jenna booked in 2018), we embody the idea of early chamber music by performing as friends. Our playing reflects this bond through tightly-knit, lively performances. Rooted in our classical training, we bring energy to works by composers like Haydn and Mozart, as well as modern music from the 20th and 21st centuries—pieces that echo our love for movies, popular music, and video games.

Jamie Listh, viola/violin
Jamie Listh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Alma College (class of 2014). Known largely as a violist and private strings teacher near Cedar Springs, she began her study of music on piano and violin at the age of 10. Though proclaiming early on that she would never be cut out to teach, in recent years she has found enormous joy in teaching strings and maintains a small private lesson studio. Jamie has long enjoyed and appreciated the versatility of string instruments and the mix of ensembles and friendships open to her as a result. When not teaching, she exercises her administrative talents for a couple of area churches and plays a healthy variety of gigs throughout the Grand Rapids area including weddings, the occasional symphony or chamber music concert and piano accompaniment for worship and student soloists.
While music is by far her number one passion, Jamie is also an avid landscape gardener, crafty upcycler, and devoted cat mom of two incredibly sweet kitties, Smokey & Ember. Continually developing new skills such as cello, Irish traditional music, and home repair/renovation know-how, Jamie has recently begun to unlock the secrets of concertina playing along with her husband and fellow musician, Branden.

Kevin Sweers, cello
Kevin is a passionate cellist who brings his love for music to the stage and classrooms around West Michigan. As a section member of the Holland Symphony Orchestra, he enjoys collaborating with fellow musicians to bring orchestral works to life. Offstage, Kevin serves as the orchestra specialist at Meyer Music, where he helps students find the right instruments to support their musical growth. Whether performing or guiding young musicians, Kevin is dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for orchestral music.
Kevin earned his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Belmont University in 2013, studying under the direction of Keith Nicholas. During his time at Belmont, he served as principal cellist for the Belmont University Symphony Orchestra and contributed to several recording projects, including playing cello on Ben Rector’s sixth studio album, Brand New.
When he’s not playing his cello, Kevin enjoys engaging in extreme sports, like ultramarathons, and completed two 50k races in 2024. He also likes hiking in nature – both on new trails and old favorites.
